Have a St.Patrick's Day You'll Remember

Join in on the festivities, without the hangover

If you're not a huge fan of alcohol, St. Patrick's Day often comes and goes without much fanfare. But it's been a brutal winter here in Ontario and if you're like me, you're eager to get out of the house and welcome the above-zero-degree weather.

The 501 Queen and 504 King streetcar routes will be free from 4:00pm to 2:30am on March 17th, so load up on greens for the day and hit up any of these events throughout the weekend to get in the St. Paddy's day spirit!

#1 - Host brunch with old school Green Eggs and Ham

Invite your friends over for a childhood inspired brunch, equipped with the adult version of Dr. Seuss' green eggs and ham by Bell Media's food channel, Gusto. Don't worry, this recipe is clear of any and all green food colouring, opting for leek and spinach for the bright pop of color. Pair your delicious meal with a refreshing mocktail for the finishing touch.

#2 - Shop till you drop at the Trinity Bellwoods Flea Market

Time: 10:00 am - 5:00 pm

Location: Great Hall, 1087 Queen St. W

Situated west of AHLOT HQ, Trinity Bellwoods is a summer staple for picnics, dog walks and a relaxed sesh on the rolling green lawn. While it's still a bit too cold to enjoy the park in its entirety, you can hit up this local market for a selection of curated homewares, clothing, beauty items and artisanal treats from 60+ vendors and small businesses.

Bonus, the event accommodates four-legged friends!

#3 - Get competitive at the Rec Room

Time: 11:00 am - 12:00 am, special performance at 8pm

Location: 255 Bremner Blvd

Make your way down to the waterfront to hit up this arcade bar for some friendly competition. Test your post-sesh (there's a park out front for all your needs) coordination skills at some classic games and get in on the hype while everyone sips on their green beers. They even have a U2 Tribute band playing at 8pm if you just want to up your Irish quotient for the day.

#4 - Get your giggle on at Second City

Time: 8:00 pm - 9:30 pm

Location: 51 Mercer Street

Not that you'll have any issue finding enjoyment on a day filled with greens, but Second City's latest show, Hooking Up with The Second City: Third Base, will have you in stitches and hard core relating to their shots at modern romance. Cuffing season is almost over friends and for everyone that missed out this time around, it's nice to be able to laugh at the infinite amount of blunders and awkward moments when it comes to dating. Especially when you're riding the elevated wave ;)

Wishing everyone a safe and green St. Patrick's Day!
